Former Mayor and Fulham Councillor 1990-2002, Frances Stainton sadly passed away on 22nd August, shortly after her 90th birthday.
Frances was a much-loved councillor first representing Walham, and later Parsons Green & Walham. During her 32-year council career she served twice as Mayor, as Chief Whip and twice in the Cabinet.
She was a wonderful colleague, and long-serving councillors will remember someone who was a very astute political operator and always an amazing mentor to many councillors.
She was a local titan and will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace.
‘Frances was amazing mentor. Always on the other end of the phone to advise and guide. A robust campaigner - I still remember during the GE19 final weeks, I had to ask her not to campaign due to how cold it was - because even then she wanted to do her bit. She will be missed.’- Jose Afonso (Cllr for Parsons Green & Sandford/ Leader of the Opposition)
