Fund the repairs of Hammersmith Bridge using the government's Structures Fund

Hammersmith Bridge

Back in June, H&F Conservatives wrote to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, stating that after six years of failure by our Labour Council, it was time for the Government to grip the issue of Hammersmith Bridge and take it off H&F Labour’s hands – once again, taking action where Labour have chosen to be silent.

A short time ago, we received a response from the Minister for Transport responsible for local issues on behalf of the Chancellor. In this letter he confirmed that while there was no funding for Hammersmith Bridge in the initial pot, there may be some under the structures fund, stating:

“As you know, a new Structures Fund has also been agreed as part of the Spending Review settlement. The design and eligibility of this funding pot is currently being determined, and the Department aims to share further detail on this as soon as possible.”

This is movement, and we need to build on this momentum and prove to the Government that people in our borough care about seeing Hammersmith Bridge re-opened, and that the Bridge should receive funding for this project as part of this new fund. We have set up a petition to bring our collective voice together.

So please, sign our petition, share it with your friends and family, and together let’s get this issue to the top of the Government’s list.

Fund the repairs of Hammersmith Bridge using the government's Structures Fund

We, the undersigned, are calling on the government to fund the repairs of Hammersmith Bridge using the government's new Structures Fund

Labour’s £34 million black hole in H&F

Monday, 10 November, 2025
Labour's local government finance reforms will leave a £34 million black hole in H&F Council's finances.

When the IFS report stated clearly that the reforms would trigger council tax rises of 27%, Labour's Cabinet Member for Finance dismissed this as 'utter tosh'.

Climate hypocrites: How Labour hid the truth about rising emissions

Monday, 10 November, 2025
Hammersmith and Fulham Council has been caught red-handed manipulating climate data to hide an inconvenient truth: despite five years having passed post it’s declaration of a "climate emergency," the authority's actual emissions have soared.
