Back in June, H&F Conservatives wrote to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, stating that after six years of failure by our Labour Council, it was time for the Government to grip the issue of Hammersmith Bridge and take it off H&F Labour’s hands – once again, taking action where Labour have chosen to be silent.
A short time ago, we received a response from the Minister for Transport responsible for local issues on behalf of the Chancellor. In this letter he confirmed that while there was no funding for Hammersmith Bridge in the initial pot, there may be some under the structures fund, stating:
“As you know, a new Structures Fund has also been agreed as part of the Spending Review settlement. The design and eligibility of this funding pot is currently being determined, and the Department aims to share further detail on this as soon as possible.”
This is movement, and we need to build on this momentum and prove to the Government that people in our borough care about seeing Hammersmith Bridge re-opened, and that the Bridge should receive funding for this project as part of this new fund. We have set up a petition to bring our collective voice together.
So please, sign our petition, share it with your friends and family, and together let’s get this issue to the top of the Government’s list.
